K1,000 polymer notes now in circulation

The Bank of Zambia is pleased to announce that the K1,000 polymer banknotes will be issued from today, Monday, 10^th November 2003. This follows the release of the K500 polymer banknotes last week, on Monday, 3^rd November 2003.

The Bank of Zambia also wishes to inform members of the public that the paper notes of K500 and K1,000 will continue circulating side by side with the polymer notes and will only be withdrawn from the system as they wear out.

The Bank of Zambia wishes to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during this currency restructuring exercise.
