Chile, 2,000 Pesos, issued in 2004. Front: Manuel Rodríguez Erdoyza (1785-1818), a Chilean revolutionary, once described as the first sincere democrat who appeared in the Chilean political world, at right. He struggled for the independence of Chile from Spain. A part of the monument dedicated to Manuel Rodríguez Erdoyza in centre, made by the sculptress Blanca Merino Lizana. Back: Iglesia de los Dominicos or Church of the Dominicans. Declared a national monument in 1983, the church has the simplicity and the purity of lines that are a hallmark of Joaquin Toesca, the church's architect. Seal of the Banco Central de Chile at lower right.
