In an effort to eradicate counterfeit notes the Reserve Bank of Fiji signed an agreement for changes on the present notes with added security features on all Fiji denominations.

RBF Governor Savenaca Narube said that there will be changes for added security features and one significant feature is the installation of a polymer plastic coated note similar to that in the Australian notes.

Narube said that the new design bank notes will feature images of local people, culture, tradition, industrial and economic activity and the banknotes will vary in size.

And for the first time a new $100 dollar note will be introduced in Fiji.

Printing on the notes will done soon while the notes will be ready for circulation early next year and is expected to cost the RFB around $7,million.
