The Bank of Canada is considering following the lead of Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Romania, Papua New Guinea and several other countries by printing $20, $50 and $100 bills on a polymer plastic. Australia introduced plastic bank notes in 1988. Once the bills are taken out of circulation, they are recycled into plumbing fittings.
