New $50 and $100 notes mark royal joy

Brunei has introduced new money. In conjunction with His Majesty's 58th birthday celebration, the Brunei Currency and Monetary Board has issued new $50 and $100 polymer notes.

 

The new currency notes will be circulated side by side with the existing notes which will remain legal tender in Brunei.

 

These new polymer notes contain among other things, the following security features, the local motif in white and gold, forms the complex window for the $100 notes and the local motif in white for the $50 notes.

 

Initials of HB 100 and HB 50 are visible when looking through the small transparent window to the point of light source for the respective notes.

 

The crest of Brunei is printed in vibrant red ink or gold star patch.

 

Serial numbers are printed both vertically and horizontally in fonts of varying sizes.

 

The formation of a flower through a combination of printing on both sides of the note and the shadow image of His Majesty's portrait and the initial "HB" when the banknote is held up to the light.

 

The issuing of the fifty dollars and one hundred dollar polymer notes can enhance security in terms of risk of counterfeiting and offers a better quality service for the public.

 

With the new currency notes, Brunei joins other ASEAN countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand who have already introduced the new dollar bill.

 

With the release of the new currency notes, posters will be distributed for public information.
